The organisation was established as a community group in June 2016 by a number of very experienced third sector practitioners all of who have had involvement in the creation and management of Men and Women Sheds. The aim is to take the legal structure of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

The existing constitution details the organisations OBJECTS as:

To pro-actively support the development Men Sheds and Women Sheds across Heads of the Valley regions via a Shed Network. Sheds are safe and nurturing places, where people of all ages can come together to work on projects, share skills & share experiences at their own pace. Membership of both Men Sheds and Women Sheds is open to all, although it is recognised that men and women often need a separate ‘male only’ or ‘female only’ space to meet in order to maximise the benefits a shed can provide.

To be inclusive and deliver benefits to all residents in the community.

To improve the social & community involvement of men and women, who have time on their hands, as a result of participating in activities which encourage dialogue and positive actions.

To develop places to encourage lifelong learning for personal, cultural and health benefits.

To improve and increase community cohesion by participation in activities that promote interdependence, intergenerational relationships and kinship between people of differing backgrounds, cultures and abilities.

To engage fully with existing Men’s Sheds and Women Sheds to share the benefits achieved by the Group and learn from the experience of the other groups.

ALL PROFITS GENERATED BY THE SHED ARE USED TO FUND SHED ACTIVITIES
